I'll say it again!

I said it before and i'll say it again, I can't believe how much our technonogy failed us, and this is technology class...so ironic. I was so not impressed tonite when presenting our project we couldn't even controll what slide we wanted...because of technology...just felt hopeless..

Trying to keep up...

When purchusing things today, your thinking you;ll get the best quality one , just to make sure it will last for a god amount of time...well thats what I do.....but...when purchusing anything that has to do with technology, does it even matter, in a few months it will need an upgrade or something new will come along that all of the sudden is needed. It's so frustrating, cause you'll never be able to get a computer that will last a long time with out having to tinker with it to get it up to date...I just find it so frustrating.

Blog Assingment...Chapter 6

1). What type of issues would you worry about in terms of students producing content for sharing with the world via the web.- The number one worry I as A parent would have is, my child giving there personal information out to perfect strangers. We hear so much today on the news of children being abducted by indivuals they have met on the internet. Another thing I worry about is childrens drama, eveything children feel now a day is posted on the web..thats includes feeling of dislike towards other children, which can cause allot of drama, hurt feelings, unnessisary trouble and even in some cases, court issues.

2). Identify three practices or rules that you believe would be good practice in protecting students on the web. Elaborate on why you have choosen each.- One way to protect students on the web, is a a teacher block any content for your student that has nothing to do with education, this way our students have no way to obbtain any information about anything thats has no educational value. 2. Another way is to not allow student in the computer lab unless accompanied by a teacher thats is monitering thier activities on the web, having a teacher over their shoulder will definately discourrage them from trying to access anything but education information. 3. Have any activity that is done on the schools computers monitered through the school, so if children do access anything besides education info, the school will find out and deal with the children appropriately.

How Ironic!

I find it so ironic that this is technology class, and we've had so much trouble , technology wise. Our last course we might of had one or two challenges, even then it was nothing major, but in this course, were pretty much gaurenteed a couple glitches a nite, and some times major glitches. I just find i so ironic that it's technology class and we just can't seem to pat into the technology...haha

Blog Assingment..Chapter 4

1- Novel study with author participation: I would think this was something you would blog, writing what you thought about something and having someone read it and comment on it.

2- Students at two firat nations schools in N.B and B.C recording and sharing native stories and music: I think this would be something for a wikispace, recording things you know and having others record the things they know, sharing their information for people to read.

3- Daily science journal: This would definately be a blog, recording your findings about somthing on daily basis.

4- Students creative writing with peer review: I would have to say wikispace, writing something and having your peers help rewrite it, by them reviewing it, letting you know where things could be changed and giving comments, would be a collaboration, and thats what a wikispace is.

Online Booking!

The computer has made it so easy for us in many ways, one of them is booking your travel. We've decided to take a trip and did all our booking via internet. We checked different sites for prices and dates, did the bookings and didn't have to leave the comfort of our home. I think this is great, no travel from one agency to another to get the best price, just a simle tap of the finger, how great is that, now if technology could only pay for it...lol...that would be really great.

Walmarts A digital dream....

Wow... god bless walmart and their digital photo center. I can't stop going on line and ordering pictures... I don't even know where to put them no more. I'm actually sending in pictures of snow and getting them developed...just cause I can..lol..this is coming from someone who loved the polaroid because it was so convenient...but all the croping and enhancing that can be done... is great....never could of done that with a polaroid...

My New Obsession!

You know I never thought I'd be one to sit on the couch and stare at computer for hours...But omg, I am. I found A new love...his name is HP Pavilion....I can't imagine sitting in the house and not chatting on msn or creeping on facebook. One time ago I couldn't turn the damn thing on, and now I can't seem to turn it off, I even no how to do other things...lol...I always said I would never sit there on the computer, couldn't see how anyone could, but now all i can say is, how boring life was without it...

March Break Is Finally Over!!!

Well finally everything is back to normal...I love having the kids home , but it's nice for them to back to school....gives me time to get things done with noone in my way..lol..I did miss my class mates that I have gotting so used to seeing though...I'm glad I'm taking this tech ride them...my little supertramps!!!!!!

This crazy Tech

Last nite we had problems with the polycam....again...it's so frustrating, I like this whole tech thing , but when your counting on it and it doesn't pull through, it just drives me nuts. We weren't sure if there was class cause we couldn't get a hold of anyone, just crazy, it turned on eventually but an hour and a half later. We finished our lesson plan, we did it as a group, I think it's pretty good, we did a lesson on the smart board, wow the smart board is such an amazing tool for teachers, it gives both students and teachers hands on opportunities, there so much that can be done with them, I know when I become a teacher, thats something I'll definately look into.

BLA,BLA,BLOG

Tonite was quite a long class, but we got allot done. We all brought something to eat and had a good lunch, nothing like working on an empty stomach..lol...were gonna get together again on monday to finish things up. All and all is was a great nite with the group. Hopefuly this weekend I'll make it to the states to visit my mom and maybe do some shopping (fingers crossed).

Technology Is Pretty Sweet

I'm really liking this whole tech thing, I'm actually getting allot from it. It's interseting to see all things techonlogy can do for us. When watching the news lastnite and seeing how technology made a difference in one mans life, I just thought it was amazing. In the begining of this coarse I was thinking how computers can be a danger to us and our children, I wasn't really thinking about how they can be such a good thing for those who need it and rely on them on a everyday basis. If technology is used in a good way it can really make a difference in ones life, for some people it changes the whole quality of their life...but...just like everything if you misuse it there are consequences.

Snow, Snow and more Snow

Wow, I don't know about anyone else, but I sure have had enough of all this crazy snow, The snow was so heavy today larry had a hard time shovelling, I felt bad for him, but not enough to go out and help...lol...and were exspecting more, I don't know where it's all going to go. Well I sure won't miss when it goes.

Tech,Tech,Tech

Technology failed me again...lol...we couldn't get the polycam connected, so we final got on the comuter and and jeff wasn't coming in to clear, so I'm kinda starting to wonder about this whole technology thing, finally when I want to learn about it , it screws up, but for real, I'm liking it, learning allot about different things and actually understanding it, who would of thunk it...lol...

Sweet weekend

This week was pretty fun, there was a hold'em tourny here. There were so many people from all over. I love these tourny's, I have met so many nice people in them, made allot of friends. I didn't make it through to the next day, but I had lots of fun. The computer runs the blind structure ,breaks players eliminated and basically everything that has to do with the tourny,well technology let us down a couple times this weekend, for some reason the computer gave out ,which made it so the game had to paused so the could figure out what was wrong with it, make sure they wrote all the names of those who were still in. Technology is great ...but... when something like this happens, you wonder if it would of just been allot easier if it was done manually, because unless the person losses his memory sudenlly, information won't be lost...lol...just thought I'd share that.

EEEEE......Webcams!

The first thing I did when I came home from last class was tell my kids, always keep webcams off and don't even use them if nessasary. I't scary knowing someone could be watching your childrens every move, or even your, through a little webcam, wow ,technology. All these things brought to us to sappossedly make our lives easier, but,really how easy is it gonna be if you find out someones watching you or your children. I dont know, kinda crazy. Another thing I learned was that when you keep your computer on and you have high speed, information can still be stole from you, even if your not on it, well whats the good in having high speed then...it makes it easier to go to the computer and just start typing, not have o wait for it to turn age...hahah....impatient...I don't know I just think all the things that come out now a days, can help you, but also harm you....

Quite Crazy!!!

It's quite crazy when you don't know a whole lot about computers and your hearing things like, viruses,spyware and adware, I mean we all pretty much know about viruses and we all worry about them and do what we can to stay clear of them, and then you got like spyware and adware, which don't want to harm your computer, but can actually find away to harm you, I guess personally, through you information, WOW....crazy. I find it quite interseting that just random people make sotfware, while here, I even thought it would be diffacult to make my blog...either there reallly smart or I'm really slow.lol..but all in all I'm finding it very interesting, I really didn't give my self much credit, I thought I wouldn't understand anything they were talking about, but I guess I've been so intimidated by the whole tech thing that I never really took the chance to sit and listen to anyone, when the word "TECH" came up, always thinking I was already to far behind..i't a wonder what actually listening to everything gets ya....I think I just might catch on...WOOH WOOH..

wow I got this far

Good evening my fellow bloggers, My name is Lorinda Augustine AKA Mindy O.K, and this is my first blog.....and lucky you gets to read it...haha I'm suprised I even got this far, because I'm what you would call"TECHNICALLY CHALLENGED", yeah I'm that person who would choose a vcr over a dvd player and oh yeah the poloroid over the digital camera in a heart beat. But right now I'm studying to be a teacher and this course"TECHNOLOGY" well I have to take it...so it's gonna be interesting to finally learn something about this crazy computer besides MSN and FACEBOOK....thats just mandatory, we all know that..lol...So I'm expected to post blogs a few times a week to inform everyone what I have learned and not learned or better said in my case...not understood....so stay on boared, it should be a interesting and somewhat bunpy ride.
